About The Commons
The Commons is an open educational resource (OER) sharing and curation platform where educators discover, share, adapt, and collaborate on curriculum materials, lesson plans, assessments, and instructional resources — all freely available and licensed for educational use. Unlike static resource repositories, The Commons is a living community where teachers rate and comment on resources, collaborate on improvements, and build curated collections for specific grade levels, subjects, and instructional contexts. Resources on The Commons span every subject, grade band, and instructional approach, including complete unit plans, individual lesson resources, project templates, rubrics, discussion guides, and multimedia content. Each resource includes clear licensing information, alignment tags to Common Core and NGSS standards, grade level indicators, and educator-generated tips for classroom implementation. Teachers can fork and adapt any resource, saving a personalized version to their own library without affecting the original. Schools and districts can create private Commons spaces where educators share vetted, locally-approved resources with colleagues — combining the openness of a public OER library with the quality control of a curated district resource bank. The Commons integrates with Canvas, Google Classroom, Schoology, and Blackboard for direct import of resources into course shells.
